Clinical Negligence

Over the last 30 years has acted in cases of medical accidents, especially in the areas of cardiology, oncology, accident and emergency, wrongful birth, birth asphyxia, vascular, neurological, urological and cosmetic surgery, dentistry and general practice.

Current and recent caseload includes claims of alleged failure to diagnose (or alleged culpably late diagnosis of): asphyxia, intracranial haemorrhage, myocardial infarction, various tumours, spinal abscess, cauda equina, compartment syndrome, gallstones, fractures, (including skull fractures in abused infant), hospital acquired infection (MRSA in ICU and C.diff on wards), bipolar disorder, sudden adult death syndrome.

Substantial Asset Matrimonial Property

Substantial asset financial remedy cases conducted since the beginning of the 1980s. Recent cases have involved a range of multi-disciplinary problems including offshore trusts, worldwide freezing orders, ante and post nuptial settlements, (including drafting Radmacher prenups) complex corporate interests, financial misconduct cases, etc. Recommended as a Leading Junior in Chambers Directory. Frequently instructed in cohabitant/trusts of land/inheritance disputes.

Legal Professional Negligence

Cases conducted in the legal professional negligence field (for both Claimants and Defendants) include all aspects of alleged mishandling of litigation, especially matrimonial finance matters and personal injury claims.

Personal Injury

35 years’ experience in personal injury work, both claimant and defendant. Predominantly industrial disease. Particular interest in abnormal pain syndrome, mechanical back pain and allegations of malingering.

As a Mediator

Trained as a mediator at Regent's College School of Psychotherapy in London to whom he is accredited (1999). A panel member of the Association of Northern Mediators (2000-present) and a past member of its Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Special Interest Groups. Has acted as sole mediator in successfully resolving over 50 cases over the last 10 years involving a wide range of situations and types of dispute: from the purely non-financial to multi-million pound disputes.

As an Arbitrator

Qualified as an arbitrator with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) specialising in financial disputes arising in the domestic context, i.e. matrimonial finance, cohabitant and inheritance disputes. Membership of the Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Forum of Family Arbitrators.
