The quantity and quality of family care work at 37 Park Square has grown rapidly over the past few years and we have expanded to cope. The more experienced members of the team are always in demand to be instructed in lengthy, complex and difficult Public and Private Child cases in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. With cases involving abused children regularly lasting up to four weeks and even longer and potential listing difficulties this creates, it is essential that clients are able to choose from a pool of experienced child care advocates who can work flexibly and interchangeably. We offer that service.

In Public Law children proceedings we represent all parties - children, parents, the extended family and local authorities - in applications for orders under Children Act and Adoption Act. Whichever party we represent, we believe we are tough, but fair and compassionate. We ensure clients are advised fully as to the merits of their case and the best way to proceed and that suitable experts are involved as and when necessary. In Private Law children cases members have been involved in cases across the whole spectrum and have acquired a high level of competence.

Since the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the growing jurisdiction of the Court of Protection members have gained particular experience of the overlap between public law children cases and Court of Protection work as vulnerable young people make the transition into adulthood.

Members of the team often provide legal education in the form of seminars to firms of solicitors, local authorities and guardians. 37 Park Square is accredited so that the Law Society will credit solicitors attending seminars with 'Continuing Professional Development' points.
