Corporate Social Responsibility

As a progressive Barristers Chambers we recognise that our activities have an impact on the wider environment and as such seek to use this impact in a positive way.

We are also committed to behave ethically and to encourage engagement with our wider community by becoming active contributing members of society.

Environmental

In respect of the environment we recognise that our activities have an impact on the environment. We are committed to ensuring that our business is environmentally responsible and believe it is essential for us to achieve continuous improvements and support external initiatives. To address key issues of concern and minimise our environmental impact we commit to reducing the production of waste and recycle where-ever possible. We also aim to conserve energy through efficient use of natural resources and manufactured products such as paper.

People

No.37 is a people business so naturally it follows that is how our approach should be to our people. In supporting this ideal we support our individual members and employees with the community projects and activities that they undertake through sponsorship and paid time off.

37 in the community

The 3 Wishes Foundation was established in 2011 to support our community activity. It is administered through the Community Fund for Leeds. The aim is for the 3 Wishes Foundation to raise through sponsored events and chambers donations a minimum sum of £3,700. This sum will be split into 3 wishes to be given to local community groups and charities. To see more about the great work that the Leeds Community Foundation does use the following link:- http://www.leedscommunityfoundation.org.uk/.

Additionally many members of chambers are members of the Panel of Volunteer Barristers at the Bar Pro Bono Unit. The Unit receives applications for assistance through advice agencies and solicitors. The Unit aims to help in cases where the applicant cannot afford to pay for the assistance sought or obtain public funding, has a meritorious case, and needs the help a barrister can provide.
