Legal Professional Negligence
Cases conducted in the legal professional negligence field (for both Claimants and Defendants) include all aspects of alleged mishandling of contentious claims, especially matrimonial finance matters and personal injury claims.
Clinical Negligence
Within the clinical negligence field has acted over the last two decades for victims of medical accidents, especially in the areas of cardiology, oncology, accident and emergency, wrongful birth, birth asphyxia, vascular urological and cosmetic surgery, dentistry and general practice.
Current and recent caseload includes claims of alleged failure to diagnose (or culpably late diagnosis of), Asphyxia, Intracranial haemorrhage, Myocardial infarction, Prostate cancer, Breast cancer, Spinal abscess, Facial tumour , Compartment syndrome, Gallstones, Fractures of the foot and wrist, Skull fractures (in abused infant), Hospital acquired infection (MRSA in ICU and C.Diff on wards), Bipolar disorder, Sudden adult death syndrome,
Personal Injury Over 25 years experience in personal injury work, both claimant and defendant. Current caseload predominantly industrial disease, especially asbestos-related diseases, occupational asthma, work related stress, and dermatitis. Recent involvement in notable claims include actions for chronic asthma caused by environmental escape of chlorine and by passive smoking, abnormal pain syndrome, mechanical back pain (for and against alleged malingerers). Has conducted trials on a regular basis over the last 25 years including, at the upper end, cases of up to 4 weeks duration and involving claims of up to £2.5 million in value.
Substantial Asset Ancillary Relief. Substantial asset Ancillary Relief cases conducted since the beginning of the 1980s. Recent cases have involved a range of multi-disciplinary problems including offshore trusts, worldwide freezing orders, ante and post nuptial settlements, (including drafting post - Radmacher "prenups") complex corporate interests, financial misconduct cases, etc. Recommended as a Leading Junior in Chambers Directory. Frequently instructed in cohabitant / trusts of land cases.
Qualified Mediator. Trained as a mediator at Regent's College School of Psychotherapy in London to whom he is accredited (1999). A panel member of the Association of Northern Mediators (2000-present) and a member of its Clinical Negligence Special Interest Group (2001-4). Has acted as sole mediator in successfully resolving nearly 30 cases over the last 6 years involving a wide range of situations and types of dispute: from the purely non-financial to claims in excess of £1million.
