Rodney has practised in Personal Injury and Inquests over 30 years. His experience in inquests includes appearing as a leading junior for the Police officers in the Inquest into the death of Christopher Alder (73 Days) and acting As Counsel to the inquest.
Criminal In Criminal work he has appeared in more than 100 murder cases, numerous large frauds and high profile indecency/rape cases. He defended the manufacturers of the Channel Tunnel boring machines in a fatal accident prosecution.
Civil He has an extensive professional and clinical negligence and general civil paperwork and Court practice and has represented a number of successful claimants in defamation actions (including newspaper and television libels) and in Judicial Review and hearings in the Administrative Court. He also deals regularly with contract, consumer law cases, directors disqualification and partnership disputes.
Ancillary Relief In Ancillary Relief and property cases he has been recognised as a Leading Junior in Chambers Directory and is regularly instructed in multi-million pound divorces. He has particular expertise with accounts and in cross examining experts and is now expanding his practice in this area once again. Reported cases include Archer -v- Archer (1999-1-FLR-327 - 5 year separation/divorce; grave financial hardship). Most of the important cases in which he has appeared are by their nature not reported.
Property Rodney's case area also includes land and property disputes.
Personal Injury He has extensive experience in personal injury cases. Notable cases include Worrall v BRB (1999) Court of Appeal (doctrine of ex turpi causa in personal injury claims). Rodney has practiced in Personal Injury and Professional Negligence work and in other fields for over 30 years.
With one of the largest practices on the North Eastern Circuit he has been advised in at least 20,000 personal injury cases to date.
He conducts about 20 personal injury trials at court each year currently together with civil interlocutory work and appeals up to and including the Court of Appeal.
