Charlotte was a mature entrant to the Bar having worked previously in the House of Lords. She also worked for a local solicitors firm working on personal injury, planning and criminal work. Prior to joining Chambers she worked as a Magistrates' Court Legal Advisor on the East Coast gaining experience in all courts including road traffic, youth, family and licencing. Charlotte is also a pupil supervisor which involves the training and teaching of other trainee barristers.
Criminal Law
Charlotte has extensive experience of dealing with a wide range of criminal cases in the Court of Appeal and Crown Court including manslaughter, rape, multi-million pound fraud, serious violent offences and sexual offences. She has been led by Queens Counsel and others in very serious and complex cases as well as leading other counsel in serious cases.
R v Halstead – 2011 at Leeds Crown Court – Defendant charged with manslaughter and two counts of robbery;
R v Keenan – 2011 at Leeds Crown Court – Defendant charged with multi-million pound mortgage fraud;
R v Dale – at Southwark Crown Court – Defendant charged with multi-million pound benefit fraud;
R v Brown – at Teesside Crown Court – Charlotte led other counsel where the Defendant was charged with rape;
R v Collinge – at Bradford Crown Court – Defendant charged with attempted rape and indecent exposure;
R v Dehar – at Birmingham Crown Court – Charlotte was led by Queens Counsel in a case involving a serving police officer charged with rape.
Charlotte has also acted in a number of cases in respect of applications for Anti-Social Behaviour Orders, some of which progressed to the High Court by way of case stated.

R v Delaney – Application for anti-Social behaviour order initially at the Magistrates Court and then by way of case stated to the High Court.
Road Traffic
Charlotte is a specialist in Road Traffic law, having acted for both defence and prosecution in all aspects of road traffic and has dealt with a number of cases by way of case stated and judicial review in the High Court and has been frequently approached by other counsel to give advice in this field.

Professional Discipline
Charlotte is experienced and has a keen interest in a wide range of professional discipline matters. This ranges from representing serving police officers to those in the armed forces.
Licencing and Regulatory
Charlotte has experience in licencing and regulatory work stemming from her experience as a Magistrates' Court Legal Advisor. She has experience ranging from liquor and premises licencing through to taxi licencing, incorporating all areas of licencing work.
In relation to regulatory work, Charlotte has been regularly involved in cases brought by the DWP and the environment agency and has also acted in a number of cases involving trading standards and the federation against copyright theft, both in defence and prosecution.
