Court of Protection

Members of the Public Law team at No.37 have expertise in applications pursuant to the MCA 2005, and can also advise in cases involving the overlap between public law children cases and Court of Protection work as vulnerable young people make the transition into adulthood. Members of the team appear in the regional Court of Protection and High Court and have acted on behalf of family members, Local Authorities and Health Professionals. Advice can be given in both welfare and financial aspects of these specialist cases.

Such is the nature of this area of practice, at times urgent out of hours assistance and representation is required.  Should this be the case then please contact our Senior Clerk by mobile 07976 397802 who will offer every assistance in putting you in touch directly with an available member of the Public Law Team.

All members of the team are direct access trained.

COP E-lerter

The Court of Protection team provide a quarterly news and case update service, edited by Marie Harbin and Ella Anderson, covers Welfare and Financial issues for those working in Court of Protection matters. With a growing number of recipients, the COP E-lerter has proved a popular service with professionals in the field.

Mental Health

Members of the group receive regular instruction in cases involving mental health isswues and appearances at MHRT hearings and along with mental capacity/Court of Protection cases.

 

Prison Law

Our members regularly appear for judicial review applications and adjudication hearings & parole boards, acting for individual prisoners within the Prison.

 

Inquests

Acting on behalf of families, interested parties and local authorites have been some of our groups recent instructions.
